Something that you may not know...
AMF built the Massey Ferguson garden tractors during the 70's, which are regarded as good heavy duty units.

Post some pics...

well i guess it aint too heavy duty as i was cutting my grass today and the engine blew to what i beleive to be without taking the engine apart yet as the connecting rod, which is odd because it wasnt over reved or ran out of oil, but i should have pics of the engine damage and of the mower 2morror

Hey, I worked at AMF at Olney IL in 1976-77. Pedal stuff only though.

AMF made AMF I imagine. Was yours pre 1976 red white & blue fad? (They started a bit early)

Engines can be replaced.

I had an AMF when I first moved here. It was an 8hp with a pull start and a 30 inch deck. It was red and white. Probably early 70's late 60's. A man at work gave it to me because the Craftsman that came with the house broke on me after the first cut. Both deck spindles seized up. The AMF didn't have enough power to get through my thick grass at the bottom of my property. I gave it to another friend after I bought the MTD in my avatar. Can't remember what brand engine was in the AMF.

Anything similar to this one?

I just recently picked it up for $75. Don't know much about it as yet, but I liked the look.

ive goy an amf 1414 the thing is built like a tank 14 horse kohler, 48 inch cut aluminum deck, hydrostat that has a few issues mainly that the foot pedal is touchy also no muffler and when my grandpa owned it he took the front end sheet metal off it said that the cast iron grille was too heavy and made ruts in the yard he used to pull two tons with it at idle the thing is a beast hopefully i can find where he stashed the frontend parts at so i can put it back together
