What is the difference between a rotavator and a tiller? Anybody hear of Howard? A neighbor has one he wants to sell, and I want to buy. Problem we don't know what a fair price would be. Its 50 inches wide, 3 years old, and in good condition.
Anyone have a guess at what a good price would be?

I heard about them for the old tractors, like the Ford N. They had a aux tranny also I belive, that slowed the tractor, without changing PTO speed. Did not know they still built anything.

Just did a Google search for Howard Rotavators. They are still being made by a company in Sweden listed as Kongskilde. In 2006 a 50" model sold for about $4500. That may be a starting figure to work with.

I just saw them today, they look strong.
This R300B-125 was $1800, The John Deere salesman said they were good. http://www.kongskilde.com/Soil/Brand...OR+R300B-M.htm |

Our neighbor bought one back in the mid 60's to use behind his MF 65. Can't remember what size it was, but the selling point at the time was that is eliminated plowing, discing, and fitting the ground. Did everything in one pass but is was a s-l-o-w pass! Worked pretty good as long as you didn't have heavy clay ground.
