Cool Gilson Snow Blower

Anyone on this board have a Gilson walk behind snow blower? If so, post up, I have a question about the v-belts.

Tony,
I need the auger belt, (p/n 16386) and a traction or drive belt, (p/n 37230). Gilson was sold years ago to I don't know who and I don't think Gilson is in business any more. I found a Gilson snow blower site and on their site they had recommendations for substitute belts. For the 16386 they recommended a 4L405, (1/2" x 40-1/2"), and for the 37230 they recommended a 4L380, (1/2" x 38"). I was on Gates website to see if I could find the belts for the blower but I couldn't find any. You know of any where I could get the belts? They must be power rated not fractional horsepower grade. BTW, it's a 1979 Model #GIS 7508 A97, (Western Auto Brand but made by Gilson), and I never changed the belts before!

cadman, Toro ownes Gilson now, it was part of the buy out of Lawnboy. The new Toro/LB #'s are703632(16386), 704903(37230).It may be hard to find a 40.5" belt. Stens cross ref. is 1/2x 40, and 1/2 x 38. hope this helps. tony

Thanks Tony. Those are the part numbers I needed. I'm going to stop by my local LB dealer tomorrow and pick up a set of belts. I don't think I'm going to find a 40.5" belt either. That belt has a tensioner on it, so I'm figuring that it would be better to be a little smaller than larger. Any way, if these new belts last a long as the originals I'll never have to replace them again. Thanks again.
