Default Craftsman LT 4000

Need so help, I have come across a LT 4000 not sure of year but the model number is 917.225692 it has a 14 HP Kohler CV14S motor and 6 speed trans. I trying to find a link so I can get a owners manual. Getting a manual for the motor isn`t a problem. I went to Sears parts and it`s to old and they don`t carriy it anymore . This tractor has a 42" mower deck and should clean up nice. It`s been stored inside but the tires 3 of where going flat one had set a little to long and started to get cracks in the area that was on the floor . It may be alright if it gets a tube. The thing is gray colored and has the square front end, remove two screws and tip it forward and it comes right off. Any one have any idea of the year mid to early 90`s, it looks like a GT18 that I`ve seen pictures posted of on the GW. The manuals part number at Sears parts is 136219. Any help would be great. My nephew just bought a house and is going to use it to mow the lawn and do leaf work in the fall. Does this tractor have the 5 pointed star hole for the blades, not sure when they started doing that, like to get a set of gators for it. Thanks M.M.

IF and I repeat IF you don't get an answer here (I think you will...) You might ask the ol' Craftsman stat master David at GW....He'll bore you to death but he knows the stats...

Can you check that model # again? Is it 917.25692? If it is add a "0" to it and check www3.sears.com/ and you will find the owners manual listed under mower deck as part # 137639 for $6.79 and still available.

If I type 136219 into the part # box below the model # box, I get a link to a manual. Click on add to cart and it's replaced by 137639. Under "engine" in the tractor breakdown it lists a 12 B&S. Are you sure of the engine? Was it changed? Maybe this is just a different version of the same tractor like the current GT5000's. Some have a kohler 25 HP and others A B&S 26HP or 27HP. There is hardly any engine info in these owners manuals. Most of the pages give operating instructions and recommended maintence intervals with locations for fill plugs and drains.
Check out sears' parts site with the # I posted and see if everything else about the tractor looks like what you have. May only be a different engine.

I made a mistake it`s model 917.255692 I left out the second 5 sorry about that getting old I guess ROF . I`m pretty sure I entered the whole model number but will again to make sure. I just tried again and got the same results. It`s never been changed for as long as I can remember and it`s got decal on the hood 14 Horse Power Kohler, never seen a Briggs that looked like a Kohler CV14S and that info. come`s up when you type in 917.255692. I here that you can tell the date that the tractor was built using the serial number which is 0610925 so if thats true then this one was built June 10,1992 what is the 5 or S for on the end for??? Thanks for your help,Sixchows.

You got the right # now. When I click on the manual 136219 and add to cart I get a message staing NLA and it shows the other # 137639. I think these 2 tractors are probably the same with different engines. For $6.79 you may want to take a chance or just go to the sears parts site and compare the 2 back and forth for part # of the various tractor parts less the engine.

Another option may be calling AYP at ! 800 659-5917 5am-5pm mon-sat. They may be able to send you photocopies of the manual. Or maybe clarify why the parts site gives the other manual # to order.

Sixchows I found a place that carries orignal parts that has the manual I`m providing the link so you can book mark it if you ever need one you can`t find they just may have it. I have been going to every parts supplier I could find and finally came up with one. The price is right about half what Sears was asking too, the link is http://search.cartserver.com/search/...36219&go=GO%21
