Default Craftsman lt4000

I just picked it up today. It has a 14hp kohler, 6 speed manual, and a 42" deck. It's one of the ones with the boxy hood with the single headlight, like the gt6000s had. Previous owner says that choke sticks sometimes and needs to be unstuck manually and sometimes it stalls out.

Mowed with it today, and it stalled out a few times, started right back up. It sounds like it gets too much gas when it happens, but after that happens I check and the choke isn't stuck.

Runs good accept for once in a while when that happens. Any ideas? Anyone else have/had one of these? How do you like them? Pictures soon. Model number 917.255450.

Not having problems with it stalling out anymore... Maybe water in the tank or something....
Still not sure about why the choke lever sticks.... I'm guessing there's a spring missing somewhere.

Those gray LT4000's (1980's vintage) IMHO, was Sears best line. I have 2, and I beat them both during snow season. Only problem I've had with one was the location of the ignition switch on the right rear fender, just above the rear wheel. Alot of junk gets thrown up there. Had to replace the switch once. Lost the keys a couple times, but now I have spare sets just incase.
Relatively heavy frame for a lawn tractor. Much heavier than the others that I have.
Small engine size does what I need it to do and doesn't hog fuel. Easy to work on. Parts still available from several places.
If I see another one available in my price range in my area, I'm making it mine.
Only problem is the seat, cracking. But it's a tractor! Put a plastic bag over it.
