Default 196? Ford 2000 LCG.

I will be picking up a Ford 2000 Low Center of Gravity, tractor that I found on craigslist. I went and looked at it this morning, and gave the guy some money to hold it for me. I will post some pics up of it as soon as I get it home.

Looking forward to the pictures. The main difference between the regular 2000 and the LCG version is the height of the front axle spindles. They just fitted the rear with shorter wheels and tires to make it look level relative to the shorter front end. They're supposed to make great mowing tractors, especially if you've got a lot of hills.

Here is the grill I got with it. And nose cone.

I forgot to mention in my email this morning about the shorter spindle/knees. The FORD letters for the grill are useally on ebay some of the early square nose models are the same. Some red paint on the trans and rear indicate a possible switch as discussed in the email. Good luck with it.

So far is looks like it is going to be, just some body work and paint, ( I hope ) It is smoking a little bit, so I am going to put some atf, in the motor to help clean it out.
Will keep you guys up to date on the progress as I go along.

Thanks Colin.

As long as you have it this far apart, may as well look into the engine to check the smoking. It's a pre-1965, as that's when they went to the 3-cylinder engine.

Do you mean post '65 - I only count 6 ports, so I'd assume it's 3 cylinders.

but one of the earlier pictures does seem to show 4 sparkplugs. Huh. Do they share intake ports or something?

Not only am I (clearly) not all that versed in pre-'65 tractors, I haven't even had the post '65's I do have anywhere near this far apart.

It is a pre 65. I just don't know what year it is, because it looks like someone took a grinder to where the Serial Number is. Being a pre 65, it has the 134ci 4cyl engine in it. My last tractor was a Ford 850, it had the 172ci 4cyl like my Dads Ford 861 has.

Colin,
You can check the date code on the engine for a better idea of the year.
Not that paint means anything, because we already think the back half has been changed out but I see some read paint on the engine so it might have started out like this.

Thanks Kirk.
How do I check the data code's? I have never done that before. When I first saw the tractor, I thought it was going to be a red and buff one. There is red paint under the blue paint, but there is also more blue under the red paint. So I don't know how many times it has been painted.
Last night I got the rear tires, and front bolster off of the tractor. I am going to have to re wire it, and I will be converting it to 12v, I just have to get a battery, we have an alternator that I think came off another tractor that I had tested and it is still good. And if all goes good I should have some paint flying by mid to end of next week. I will get some more pics of what I did last night.
Thanks Again.

Yep, Intake ports are shared. Second one in from each end.
