Default John Deere 455 Cab Build Thread

Hey guys,
This is the start of the build thread for the Cab i am going to build for the 455.

Now that the mini loader, frame squeezer is built for the plow, and 3pt hitch drawbar/weight bracket is built im ready for winter. minus being able to stay warm!

I have a pretty good idea How i am going to go about building it.

Staldrills cab has been an inspiration for me to build it, and i am starting to get bored after work without a new project.

I will pry stop by and grab some steel after work tommorow and start on it this weekend,

I would like to get any tips and suggestions from people.

Including, pics of factory cabs showing how the break pedal/lever goes into the cab,

Ideas for hinges, handles to open the doors.

Idea for a roof

Idea for a heater setup utilizing the engine coolant from the motor.

I will try to take as many pictures as possible during the build, It may not happen all in one weekend as i "think" i have time untill the cold weather sets in and the snow flies.

Any suggestions,comments, help is appreciated.

Thanks

Except for air conditioning there is absolutely no need for a cab here in GA but I still think they are cool as grits [ an old southern saying that probably won't mean anything to most cab aficionados ].

Thanks for the links, This Cab is not gonna be the "cadillac" of cabs, but it will keep my butt dry and warm in the winter,

I wish i would have went and snagged diesel powered's cab when he had it for sale. but this will keep me busy for a few weekends and be under 200$.

I would have sold you mine, but i sold it to another member here for 400+ shipping (PS nobody wants to buy a cab in the middle of summer). It was an OEM JD Cab for the 425,445,455. I have some pictures, maybe they can help on your inspiration.

It adds up quick if you want an electric wiper and lights on the cab. That's wih plexiglas windows too. Door handles were 50. Just got a quote for parts to connect to the motor for heat. 150 bucks.

Yeah, it needs work for sure. But I actually don't think it looks THAT bad. Depending how far Dan is willing to travel, he might get it for <$300 and he'd have a potentially very nice Curtis Cab after refurb.
