Default Power Companies HATE This!, SCAM?

Has anyone looked into this advertisement?

After seeing this ad here many times, I decided to check into it some. I found nothing but bad news, here's just the tip of the iceberg, there are many other warnings/articles

http://www.ripoffreport.com/directory/power4home.aspx

Haven't watched, but there are also some power4home scam alert YouTube videos

I checked your link, it looks like this is based out of North Oaks MN. I grew up 5 miles from North Oaks. It is a residential area. A very high end $$$$$$ residential area. Very private and exclusive.

If this is a scam maybe the moderators should do some checking?

Jim

yes it is a scam, as is anything that promises to lower electric bills by any means other than you actually cutting back usage.

I'd like to add that if anyone sees another one of these ads or a post advertising it, please use the "report post" function so we can take care of it that much faster.

Thanks!

i did not catch that you saw the ad here, it is a google ad and those are based on YOUR search history mostly. do a couple google search for something and you will see ads on nearly every web site advertising similar products.

We can't do anything about google ads served to this site. unless they contain porn the site owners don't really have a leg to stand on when complaining about it.

If you really don't want to see them, either sign up as a supporter or start using adfender to block them.

Dave

Regardless of the ? at the end of the title (SCAM?), I already knew it was a swindling scheme! My search history has nothing to do with it, anyone who frequents the alterative energy forum will eventually see the pop-up.

I can't argue your 2nd statement, but I find that really hard to believe!! Makes me wonder (if and) how many NON supporters of this site have been snookered. There's ALWAYS a solution, anything less is just part of the problem. Someone here needs to dig deeper, rather than making excuses!

BTW, I was a supporter until recently (it's the economy - ya know?). Stop the scam ads (I would be much less offended if this site were to show a few beautiful naked ladies) and "I promise", I'll renew my support!

PeoriaMurph has the right attitude, he also seems to think y'all can take care of it!

the site has no control over what ads google serves up, and the only thing the owners can do is either stop allowing google ads(never happen as this is the main source of revenue) or in teh case of offensive ads they can report them to google and google may at IT's discretion stop that ad.

yes they are tailored to your search/browsing history. this is why you(meaning folks in general not you specifically) need to learn how to properly secure your browser, it is amazing how much we are tracked on the net.

i don't think murph realized what you were talking about, as there is no way to do an RP on an ad.

Absolutely correct -- I assumed that someone had posted an ad somewhere in a forum

I have seen the ad too, but I have never been on the alternative energy forum, or even searched anything in regards to electricity.

i never see any of them on sites since i installed adfender.

beast, they are not strictly just from your search/browsing history but they do use those to tailor them. often they are totally random ads.

I like the one for the "Magnetic motor" that you can simply build from plans that the electric companies don't want you to know about because it spins off the earths magnetic fields and actually produces power for free. Scammers wouldn't make a living if stupid people didn't send them money. Just because it is written on the web doesn't make it true.
I did get a chuckle from this

What would you do with the information if you came up with a way to cut your electricity usage in half!??

I am seriously asking this question, not a ruse!

On one hand, you want to make lots of money.

If you put it out on the internet (even for sale) everybody would steal the concepts and remarket them to make money.
(You would feel bad)

On the other hand, you could give it away for free to better society.

My experience with humans is that anything that is free is thrown aside as valueless.
(You would feel bad)

Is there a third alternative I have not thought of!!??

No, I ain't gonna patent the idea, that is just another way others can steal the concept, even easier.

What are your thoughts!??

Someone that sees that Ad again, take a Snip or a Screen Shot of it and we can forward it to Management and see if they can't do something about it. Like David said, probably can't, but we won't know for sure till we try!

If you are running Windows 7 (possibly others also) you should have a little red Stop Sign in the corner of your screen somewhere.

If not you have not added it yet.

Simply go to http://adblockplus.org/en/ then click the install button.

It is AMAZING that something this great is free.

My hard drive failed and after getting the computer back up, I was going crazy with ads until I could get a hold of my son-in-law to remind me of that website's name.

Life is good again!! the ads are GONE!!
