So for a few months now my 2008 Cub Cadet LT 1045 has been backfiring when hot after shutdown. No big deal right? Well it evolved to hard starting or not starting when hot? A little starting fluid usually would get it running but not so good to use all the time.

Then, the tractor out and out stopped during a cut and would not restart at all. After several hours sweating in 100% humidity in the garage, it turns out that this model tractor with a Kohler Engine had a Anti Backfire Fuel Solenoid Shutoff valve that screws into the bottom of the carburetor bowl.

The solenoid valve over time gets crudded up and stops working properly! A new one from Cub Cadet / MTD is ordered and on the way at get this $75!

Temporary, I cut down a 3/8 bolt and screwed the carburetor bowl back on, it runs perfect! Not sure that I will put the solenoid back on!
