Default Roper 18T

Roper 18T BG-MS 2950A
I'm not even sure of the year.

A few pics, and a problem to tend to soon.
Flywheel cover removed, air breather and carb/intake manifold removed.
Spark and plug checked,
Valves checked.
Dead cylinder,causing some (unbalanced) vibration.
Possible lack of compression.
*Notice the fenders*

Thanks for the tip on the manual.....guess I shoulda used my brain because I have been to Stripmine's manuals site many times but only for Sears stuff so far. Guess I'll have to dig into some Roper stuff. When was the last run of the Roper tractors with the shared Suburban parts?

79 was the last year of the Sears Suburban, but by then, Ropers had started using the cheaper Sears components. Try the 73-76 era

Hmmm.....but what about the Canadian side of things? Didn't somebody claim there was a Canadian version of the SS/16 sold in Canada in about 1979? I am wondering if the 18T was sold in the 1980's.

Roper sold "Suburbans" (for lack of a better name) tru 81 I think. Sears last year of Suburbans was 79 with the GT/18, GT/16, and GT/19.9. The only discussion I remember about Canadian vs. American models was the fact that the Canadian 19.9's were yellow and white not silver and black

Maybe they didn't completely sell all of them until the early 1980's.

Here is the Manual for the Canadian SS/16 that was sold in 1978.

The Model number 917.608100 comes up with nothing on Sears Parts Direct.

Canadian 1978 SS/16 Manual
