Default PTO will not engage!!

Hi,

I've got a 78 Ariens S-16 Hydrostatic lawn tractor with a mowing deck(42'' i think). Engine had a complete overhaul, engine runs like a champ. Problem i'm having is once I pull the switch to Implement the PTO to turn the deck, the engine drags down and eventually kills. Checked all the electrical and one PCB and everything looks alright and works as it should. Now is the electric PTO clutch not grounded good or is it a different problem???

Been troubleshooting this for bout a year now. Wanting to cut my green pasture again!!

Hate to see it just sitting down and depressed cause I can't understand what's wrong with it.

Any idea's guys?

If the motor bogs down and dies I'd start with an obvious obstruction to the rotating parts of the mower. To eliminate a stuck spindle or something of that nature you could simply remove the mower drive belt and start from there. If the engagement of the PTO still kills the motor, look for a bad safety interlock somewhere. Could be a seat switch not registering the presence of a warm body on the seat killing the ignition when you put it in gear.
