Default Need some help Please. Mower wont engage

So Im getting ready to do first start of the season.
My battery was dead.

To make a long story short the BLADES WILL ENGAGE WITH JUMPER CABLES.
When I remove the cables the blades wont engage but the motor still runs.

any suggestions?

Oh its a John Deere LA140 riding lawn mower

exactly...

driving it takes very little if any battery voltage, the clutch on the other hand takes big juce to run-

the clutch is just a large electro magnet and needs plenty of electrons to make it work...

now the Q is, is the source of the problem your battery or the charging system. Start the tractor and run it at WOT...

Check the voltage across the battery if it is between 13-14.5 Vdc then the battery is bad.

Less than 12.5 Vdc at the battery means your charging system is bad -- likely a voltage regulator.

Like was said, any Elect PTO needs juice to run, That juice is from the battery or the stator, Most times if the batt is really weak it will put all voltage to charging.
