Default Antique Manure spreader

Had an opportunity to pick up a manure spreader on steel for a good price. We have several implements in the yard as I have shown in a previous thread. Got this on e out of a farm field today and we are quite pleased with the unit. It will get a good lubing and in teh spring some cosmetic and hopefylly the drag chain and bars repalced on it. I believe it is all there except for a couple feet of chain. I have video if anyone wants me to post it. Her are some pictures of it in the field on teh trailer and in the yard. Thanks for looking. I am looking for any information on it such as Model # and possible year of manufacture. It is an IHC spreader.

When I was a kid, we had the greenest grass and the best hay around that I knew of. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but it was because a farmer done the road used to bring a manure spreader like the one pictured here, to our place, and would spread all our horse manure. I didn't like it at the time, being a kid, but now I know my dad was a lot smarter than I am.

I can't help you but I think we had that exact setup. The spreader look just like what we had and it worked pretty well. And we had both a AC WC and a WD 45. Which is yours in the picture? All of our stuff was sold off when my Dad died in '85. He started farming with tractors post WW2. and I would guess this was horse drawn and was pre WW2. We had an older spreader too that had worn out that had wood sides.

I wish i had all that antique iron now. Those tractors are still going strong I bet.

The tractor in the picture is my sons 1947 WC that he just bought. It runs good but had a blown head gasket and the manifols was rotted out. The manure spreader has a worn out bearing on the rear of it that need to be replaced. I ahve ordered one like it from a bearing supplier. They had one that is just a little thinner. It will work. wit a little work. I have to get the S chain for the platform to run the material from the front to the back. We have a 1942 WC also that need a motor, which we have, put in it and get it running. Thanks. More pictures this spring.

It still works, however it has a couple of bearings on the back that need to be replaced. I also need to get some new S link chain for the bed chain and it will be complete. I even got a IH wrench and pliers for it. When you ordered it they originally came with them. We don't plan on spreading with it but we want to have it in working order and then sand and paint it up to match original. sar2828 do you have any pictures of yours. Would like to see them if you do.
If you go to youtube and type in "tractortinkerer11" it should come up with two videos of it being pulled behind our sons 1947 WC.
I tried to copy the link but it woun't work. The above should work to see the videos.

My son and I have thought about something like that around here. We have a big car show here in June. They have GTs and Trucks but no Tractors. I asked last year if they would allow Tractors and they said maybe. I hope to have both of our AC /WCs up and running to take down for the show. They are not restored yet but I think it would be fun to have them there. I asked a friend who has a 53 chevy Pkup if he wanted to tow it behind his for the parade. He declined.
