McCormick Deering No.6 Sickle Bar Mower
I've been meaning to ask about this for some time now, and haven't gotten around to it, but the better half just handed me a "Round-To-It" marker so here goes:
When we bought the property a few yrs back, up at the head of the drive is an old ( I'm guessing, 1920's to 1930's ) McCormick Deering No. 6 Horse drawn Sickle Bar mower. I'm trying to find info on restoration, manuals, parts lists etc etc. Wheels & Gears box are in good shape (considering the age), but the bar is missing the cutters "I think" but I'm not sure, as I've never seen this model in action.
I'm not sure I really want to undertake the restoration, but would certainly give this to somebody locally if they are into that sort of thing, as its our history and seems a shame to see it rusting away in the weather here. It does make for a nice entrance ornament fer sure (at least I think so, the wife has other thoughts !! ).
Any info appreciated.
