Default Cub cadet 2185 PTO switch

My pto on my 2185 clicks on with the turn of the key switch on or switch off.
I was mowin last week when the pto shut right off.Now the deck starts when the tractor starts wether the switch is on or off.I looked at all the wiring and doesnt seem to have a short.if I remove the purple wire from middle of the top row the deck shuts off.I believe this is the ground for the pto. Could the switch be bad or is it something else. Im stumped. It still mows but I cant turn the deck off now.

Thanks in advance

Merlin

Only thing that it could be is fused contactors in the PTO relay box.. It's the little black box behind the dash with 5 or 6 wires plugged to it. Get a new one and you shouold be ready to go. Diable the the tractor until it is repaired or somebody could get hurt!!

i was at my grandfathers and he was saying the his cub (LT1080) that the blade was just cutting of and you would switch it off and back on and it would work...... so i was out there getting some seat time on it and that happend to me too, a few time and then just stoped working completly so him and i drove to the cub dealer and i got a new switch and put on it and fixed it

now idk if it will help you any but i figured id share, but i agree maybe that realy, that was my other thought on his if the switch didnt fix it

Wierd.. Try unplugging the wires going to the clutch next to the engine.. If it still turns the clutch needs adjustment (not enough clearance)...

When I unplug the wires to the clutch it disengages. When I put a test light on the pto wires next to the engine it stays on the as long as the key is on.If I disconnect the purple wire from the top row of wires on the switch(the wire that goes to the clutch) the test light goes out.Im thinking the switch might be bad.I need to get the replacement switch and hope it works out. This is my only mowing tractor at the moment and its drivin me nuts. I will get a switch this week and hope its the culprit.

Its fixed!! I changed the PTO switch and I can now turn the power off to the PTO.The clutch still didnt want to disengage so I took it apart, used a file to dress the faceplates, cleaned all the dirt and crud out and I can now shut off my deck. The switch wasnt cheap but at least its safe now.

Sweet! The contacts were fused together in the switch!

Nice to hear someone fixes thier problems once in a while!!
