Default Garden Start 2006!

Yesterday we spread the big compost stack on the part of the garden that just got bigger. Then tilled it once late, tonight I tilled it again, (wife took pics)!

Looks nice, and if I had dirt like that I'd try gardening too.

Today, we got the 7hp Horse into the little garden area and tilled it twice, then planted the peas, 1 row half way across the patch, on each side of the panels, tall types need support and we had these cattle panels and use them for garden plant supports! The other half will be pole lima beans! Waiting for store to get onion sets in, they say this comming week.(wish they would hurry!) If weather stays dry,---would like to get the spinach, onions, beets, and carrots in soon.
Here is the Troy-built Horse & me in action, then row maker in last pics! thanks; sonny

I didn't realize that onions was a cool weather crop? Are you talking onion sets or seeds? I guess that would make a difference.

Sonny,

Lookin' good! Still a bit cold and wet here, but it won't be long now. I got Oregon Sugar Peas to get in the same way as yours, but using stakes and string lately. Had to use the fence sections to keep the pup out of the garden! ROF ROF

Nice dirt, too. Looks rich and ready to put out some nice veggies. Thanks for the pics.

Put some lima been seed in pot last month to se if germination o.k., and still have it in kitchen window,-----3' tall and has flowers, and pods on it today! Hope we can keep it alive until frost danger is past for this area so we can plant it outside,----might have to plant it in one of the earth-boxes and roll it in at night!
Finally got onion sets from town---kind of late for them ,but was the earliest we could get them---almost dry enough to plant them on the other side of the snow-drift in the garden! thanks; sonny

Too cold and wet here to be doing any gardening. This time last year, I had already cut the grass twice! Finally supposed to hit the 70's this week though, so it won't be long now!

Our peas are just comming up, noticed them today.! We have seedling cabbage, tomatos, eggplant, sweet-potato plants,--in peat pellets and peppers not up yet.
Been getting storms here last week again (they call this area tornado alley) more people lost buildings Sunday night, about a mile from our farm.
The test lima bean is the last pic! Got yellow pear tomatos in the earth-box with some rutgers big tomatos! thanks; sonny
