Default Looking for a straight answer on a mulching kit part number

So, now that I've got the 111 running like a champ, I've decided to snag a mulch kit for it. I've got the rear bagger, but I've always been a mulching kind of guy (that probably just means LAZY ).

The parts diagram says that the kit I want is BM17921 (for the 38" deck), but that hasn't been a current part number for a long time. I found a post here that states that the replacement part is BM21817.

This post here indicates that BM21817 is the replacement for BM20496, which may or may not be true. The graphic certainly looks the same (though the number in the lower left corner is different...), and my deck is indeed the 38".

The BM21817 kit is listed here, with availability listed as "Usually in stock". My tractor is NOT listed among the models that the kit fits, but that doesn't surprise me, given that mine is 30 years old.

I checked the JD site, of course, and they've never heard of ANY of these part numbers. My local dealer (after attempting to sell me a set of blades and a mulch kit for an L111) informed me that the blades are still available for order, but the kit is not.

So, my question is, is BM21817 indeed the correct part, and if so, where can I reliably get the kit?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

JD parts lists the kit that you need as BM17921, but you are correct in that it does not come up on the lookup. If you can wait, I have 2 kits that I will be listing here for sale, one with blades and one without. Both will fit that mower deck.

Unfortunately I can't wait long, as the lawn's got to be mowed, and I've got nowhere to put the clippings if I bag it. How long are we talking about?

Your Looking for blades for a JD 111 right Not a L111
Because the 111 38inch Deck the Mulch Kit is BM17921 The 38inch deck Mulch Kit Part Number in your 2nd link is for a LT150 38inch deck not a 38inch deck for a 111 So No BM21817 will not fit your 38inch deck If BM17921 is no longer avaliable as a Kit the Individual Blades are Part Number M112991 and they will fit your 38inch deck on your 111. Hope this Helps

Yes, that's correct.

BM21817 is for a whole bunch of decks... The 111 isn't listed at greenpartstore.com, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't fit, right?

I do need the blades, but they're still available from my dealer. It's the rest of the kit I really need to track down.

Thanks!

Let me see if I can get them up here tonight. Or PM me and we can work something out.

That's a pretty extensive list, but is it only a list of RECENT models that it will fit, or is it exhaustive?

I called the guy at greenpartstore.com, and he's fairly confident it'll fit. If it doesn't, I can send it back to him. Either way, it looks like eddyyy302 is going to come through for me

The list is what Tractors and decks the BM21817 Kit is used on. The Kit that works on the 111's 38inch deck is BM17921 which is used on tractor Prior to The Introduction of the LX100 series

I called the guy at greenpartstore.com and asked him; he told me that the kit would probably fit, and if it didn't, I could send it back to him for a refund. I may just do that.

If you're still looking for one, greenpartstore.com has the BM17921 kit now, and when I called, she said that the kit isn't actually whole, they put it together from parts.

Either way, I ordered one, and I'll let you know how it goes.

I got the kit promptly, it installed easily (one must drill a single hole in the deck), and works well.
