Default JD 445 seat on a 425?

I have a 1995 425 that has the shorter seat on it. I'd like to know if I could purchase a seat for a 445 (taller back seat) and put it on my 425. Is it a direct bolt up or does it take different mounting hardware?

There is a different mounting bracket, on the 445 and 455 there is just a cotter key to remove and then the seat pulls off, it has a couple of brackets on bottom for a rod to go thru. I don't believe the 425 has these, not that you couldn't replace the whole seat bracket though.

Is the 445/455 seat that much better? I need a new 425 seat . . . and I've thought about the whole bracket and seat from a 445/455, but wasn't sure if it was really worth it.

It's got a higher back to it which I like. I like the seat on my 2305 a LOT better than my 425 due to the taller back on it. I might make you a great deal on a like new original 425 seat....

If you do move forward with the new seat setup, I would be very interested.

You can just change your seat, did it on Dad's 425 when he had it. But if you what to upgrade the suspension don't get the one for the 445/455 way to much money get one for the x595 that is what I did. Only ting I could see between the two was the 455 suspension had bolts build into it and the x595 suspension just had the holes.

Link to what I did http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=151159

98ramtough, I put the deluxe seat and suspension from an X748SE on my X748 and kept the original suspension. The deluxe suspension was put on when I bought the new tractor so the original suspension is new. I sold the original seat but have a seat from an X595 that has a crack or two but is still very usable.

If you have some interest send me a personal message.
Thanks,
Terry,

98ramtough,

I have a high back seat like the one on a 445, but it has a bolt pattern that should fit your 425. It came off a 322 that I bought but was installed using only 2 bolts. I never knew exactly what it was designed for, but it may fit. I will take a picture of the bolt pattern Monday and post it. I have two 455's with the high back seat and it is SOOOO... nice for my back.
