ACTUALY JIM ...I did use it yesterday with the rock after all ...It seems the rock didn't quite fill the pot holes I wanted the rock for so I ended having to scrape the high part of the drive (the center), angled the blade and worked the rock into the hole creating once again a level driving surface where the mini van doesn't bottom out anymore ...Thanks to my dozer blade ...and Becky ...Problem is I was finished in just over an hour...I was just getting comfortable backdragging and stuff...lotuni SEND SOME SNOW

That was about 3-4". The broom is great as it gets right down and cleans everything. We get allot of snow but it is usually dry, we get the wet stuff only in the spring. We hardly ever get more than 8 - 10 " at a time. With wet snow or anything over 8" I will do 2 passes. Although the total cleaning area of the driveway is not that huge (`4000 sq ft), I chose the broom over the blower for those reasons.

The video is dark b/c it was taken from inside the house.

What is that used for normally? Not for trash? Geez, it would whip the trash right out

A few years ago I was in Burlington, VT on business and while waiting at the airport for my customers to arrive -- in the middle of what I would call a blizzard -- I saw large pieces of equipment equiped with front-mounted rotary brooms sweep the runways. They worked great! Another friend of mine who works at Perdue U, tells me they also use them there, but have another name for them: ice polishers. What happens, if someone walks on the snow and compresses it before it is swept, the sweeper is unable to remove that and instead polishes it.

Cheers

I think it is Shindawa that makes a straight-shaft weedeater, that you can change "power heads' on, and it has a broom w/ rubber paddles on it for snow and grass and dirt...About 20' wide--kicks up a heck of a storm!

The broom is used for snow mostly. It can also be raised up of the surface for gentle dethatching or sweeping leaves or dirty parking lots etc. You can also control the rate of spin. As for packed snow, I really don't have that issue (it's always clean) but usually when there is packed snow, I will lower the brushes and it will usually break it apart (as long as its only a little packed down and not like 2 months of driving over it). This one is 48" wide. They are also used to commonly clear ice rinks.

Up here in the great white north, they are very common at airports, as stated above, to clear runways. They are or course on a much , much larger scale. The advantage of the broom is it will clean right down to the surface.

What does that broom cost? Got any up close pics of it either on or off the tractor?
