got a new plow yesterday, its actually old but anyways, it came off a sears of some sort is what the guy told me. so i did what i do best and made it fit my tractor with a little cutting and welding and brainstorming. i slapped a coat of paint on it as you can see. works great, now i gotta test it out and see what i can accomplish in the dirt with it. anyone have any tips on moving dirt with these?

Nice job on the conversion. Looks great! I hope you get a lot of use out of it.

Yes, it looks good. Great pix - I study these things to learn how they attach, etc. What's the tiny spring on the top do?

Nice! I was given a 42" plow for a Murry, it will have to be modded to work with the Sunstar but I weld and fabricate so thats no issue. I plan on modding it so that I can use the deck lower/lift to raise and lower the plow since I don't have a deck on mine.
I have one question though; Should I make the blade mount so that it mounts to the frame or the axle? I have mounting points on both. If I mount it on the frame it will stay level with the frame and whatever the rear tires are doing, if I mount it to the front axle then the blade will pivot with the front axle over elevation changes. Just wondering? |

the little spring is attached to the pivot release pin lever so it goes back into place once it finds the hole

fabbed a plow for a newer broadmoor. At first I had it attached to the quick hitch. Which was pretty much the front axle. The problem that I had being on the front hitch was that it wanted to push the front end to either side when using the blade at a angle.
I found a simple solution was to run 1x1 angle iron from the plow mount back to the rear of the tractor. If you look at the oem mounting setup almost all of them attach to the frame and transfer the weight to the rear. Hope this helps
