Default International 3414 BackHoe / Loader

I just saw a model 3414 with a lot of welds on the boom and has diesel engine. Maybe a Perkins?

It was built around 1973 and is stuck in Hi gear, (owner said 3rd & 2nd are OK).

I am considering purchasing but I am real green to backhoes.

Can someone give me some feedback or pointer to look for?

Asking price $5,000. I would use it as is just to load my CASE front end loader for the landscape work on the property?

I will get a picture tomorrow.
Thanks

3414 is the model of the tractor, not the backhoe. Backhoe should be a 3121 or something similar.

Engine is not Perkins. It is a British IH engine, model BD-154. 3414 is the industrial version of the B-414 ag. tractor. Same basic tractor was also made in India by Mahindra.

Very rugged machine, but not so easy to find parts for some of it. The backhoe is also a little odd- ball. The backhoe works on two separate hydraulic systems. The power-steering pump runs the swing and stabilizers. The rest of the backhoe runs off the crankshaft-driven Cessnam pump. There is a diverter valve you have to push one way or the other - one for when you want to steer the tractor, and the other way when you want to use the hoe (swing and stabilizers).

I have a 3444 TLB, and yes, it is old, and yes some stuff is hard to find, but its a solid machine. Very tough, and the BD-154 is a good engine.

I have a3414 loader backhoe . This machine just wants to dig all day. 5000. seems a little steep to me. I get parts from Hoopper's in SE Penna. Check for tightness in pins and moving parts in loader and hoe.

I have a 3414 backhoe/loader. Parts are available but you have to search for them. It is a great digging machine and very reliable. But as stated before, check for wear. This thing has a lot of grease points and some were probably missed along the way. I have a lot of wear in mine, but then again...it came with the place when I got it so I'm not complaining.
