Hi,
I have a 260 and have been looking for a tiller.
First, where are you in PA? I'm near Pittsburgh. Second, a few questions about the tiller:
What is the model number of the tiller? It should be a 30 inch mechanical drive. Do you have the operators manual?
What's the serial number?
Please confirm that you have all necessary attachment arms, pins belts etc.
What's the condition of the tines?
When was tiller last used?
And last, any photos?
Apologies for so many questions but I don't want to waste your time or mine.

You need to verify that that model (for the older 200 series) will work on yours. I don't believe it is compatible!

PA318,
Thanks for quick reply. Sounds like the tiller you have is for the JD 200 thru JD216 series... not the later models like my JD 260.
I'll keep looking.

Did JD make a tiller for the newer 200 series (240+)? I don't ever recall seeing one. Perhaps aftermarket is available. Does it have rear attachment points?

I've seen them listed for $250 - $300. Apparently they're fairly rare as most people used these as just big LTs. I think price may be somewhat geography dependent as well.

Yes...the 30" mechanical tiller will fit many of the newer tractors. Some of the models they will fit are 240, 260, 285, 320, 325, 345, gt275, gx345 and all tractors in those same series.

JJ,
I have just what you're looking for. I bought a new tiller for my old 265 back about 20 years ago. I used it three times with my 265 and once for about a minute (the soil was too rocky) with my 335. It's been mostly hanging on the wall in my garage for about 15 years now.

On occasion I visit my Wife's family in Elkand, PA, which is on the New York border north of Williamsport. If you're interested, drop me a line and perhaps we can hook up.
Dave
