Default wiring for jd 111 lawn tractor

I am having problems with the wiring for the selenoid. I can hot wire motor to start but not able to use the key .
I need to know the color of wires that go to the selenoid so I am able to start with the key

when you say you hot wire it, do you mean by jumping 12v to the small terminal or jumping from 1 big terminal to the other? if you are not getting 12V to the small lug whe the key is in the start position, you may simply have a safety device tripped out.

there are numerous safeties on tractors, depending on age. seat/pto/brake/gear(neutral) are the common ones. if this one of the older 111's? one of the guys more familiar with the classic models will have to chime in to tell if there are even any on it if so.

another thing could just be a bad ignition switch or a fuse to the switch.

on the selenoid there is two large red wires held on by nuts and on the red wire from the battery it is also connected to the male end of terminal on selenoid but I have no wire from the other male end connector .
I ran wire from starter tothis connectioon and it works when key is in "on" position.so I figure that there should be a wire from key switch to this terminal but not sure what color of wire ??
