Default Craftsman 22 hp Tractor with a 50" Deck 917273090

My son recently ended up with the above tractor as part of the purchase of a home. I'm trying to learn a bit about it including how old it is and whether a snowblower was made for it.

Hopefully a picture will be below:

He'll probably end up selling it as he has my Simplicity 17 GTH-L------especially if he can't find a snowblower for it.

What's it worth, by the way. Seems to run fine.

You can date the tractor using the serial number and the info below. My guess on age and value is 2003 and $700.00 on the high end. Snow blower and many othe acc. should be available.

OLD
(JULIAN DATE SYSTEM

#917.255940 917 = source. 255940 = model

serial number 2321s01158
232 represents the day of year
1 last digit of year
s plat code
01158 number of unit make

how to read the new calander date system

NEW 1993
(CALANDER DATE SYSTEM read like this

917.255970 012793A 001765

917= source
255970 = model
012793 01=month 27 day 93 year
a = assembly line it was make on.
001765 = unit make . all new unit start at 001001

you tractor should be a 1991 make on aug 20

I just bought the EXACT machine 2 weeks back...I paid $350 for it.
It has lower hours than my 02 GT3000 (170) judging by the wear on the deck.
Yes, you can ad a snowblower # 24686, but that # has been discontinued.
With the purchase of an additional mounting kit, a newer blower will attach.

I parted out that exact type of machine about a year ago.
The sheet metal and steering was all out, but the transmission and engine were good. The one I had was from 1998 based in engine build date.
I think the 2002 or 2003 models were the GT5000, so this one is earlier than that.

I found that the front mounting brackets are the exact same as for the 2003-2008 approx. GT 5000 so the attachments should cross. As our diesel guy is mentioning there are still the 42" snowblowers available if you get the $ 50 adaptor kit. I had one of those on my GT5000 and it worked fantastic.

It looks to be in great condition so I would say a value of $ 500 to $ 600 on average. The price of $ 350 would be a steal in this area.

427435...I posted up some pics of mine in the Paint/Restoration forum. I figured since I had it running the way it should, I might as well have it looking the part.

Well that was short-lived. I posted an ad (my son has been pretty busy of late) on Craigslist and sold it for $895 cash. Thanks for the info and the manual I copied from one of the "sticky" sites helped close the deal.

Guess I'll just have to keep using the Scag to cut my lawn (it is so much faster and easier to use)!! My son is "stuck" using the Simplicity 17GTH-L with a 48" deck (but it also has a snowblower).

Best I can tell, same as mine, but mine has no dents and the mower is tits. I also got a rear blade, & 12cube card, ag tires, 3 container bagger. But I did pay for it , wasn`t 5-7oo though.
