Default X300

Well I guess I am picking up a used X300 on Monday I can't wait. I have been reading alot about these tractors and it scares me to some degree, with some common sense are these machines as fragile as what some people make them out to be? I have a 6'X10.5' heavy built tilt trailer that I would like to spot in my back yard(flat) with this tractor will that hurt it? GOD BLESS bob

I wouldn't say that the X300 is fragile but by no means is it heavy duty or is it a Garden Tractor. If you're not pushing it beyond what it's meant for it should last a very long time.

I've never pulled anything heavier than a cart full of wood or a woodsplitter which the X300 handels fine. I would listen real close for lots of groaning and whinning coming from the trans. If you hear those noises it's a sure sign you are overworking it.

Stladrill, he did all or most of it himself (greased it, changed oil, sharpened blades) very nice condition, will look like new with a little elbo grease. Any thing to look out for on these models? This will be my 5th deere smallest but newest. over the years i have had 650 4X4, 318, 140 H1 and 112

My advice, if you find the HST (tranny) a bit noisy (groaning and whining) it will be a very good thing to change the oil in it with 5W50 synthetic (Tuff Torq recommend oil).

Follow Stladrills thread here for future reference. You may be able to do this & still be under $3000 total for a used X300. This is the way I may go eventually.
