Default Jd 455

I have a 425 AWS but decided to upgrade to the 455 2 wheel steer. Any thoughts, good move or not? Sorry, it's hard to see the in the pictures, the one with the loader is the 425 and the one without anything on it is the new 455.

and thats a great pair of tractors. I would put the loader on the 445 and use the 425 AWS for mowing and the such. slkpk

I already put the loader on the 455. I think I'm going to wait until mowing season starts, and if I'm happy with the 455 I'll sell the 425.

What was the rational behind your decision? I love the 425/445/455 series but I would have thought the AWS would be hard to get rid of. I never bought the AWS + loader = instability bit, I would think rear strength would be a better argument against the loader than anything but it appears that was not an issue for yours.

Both are awesome tractors BTW

There was zero rational in my decision to be honest. I stumbled across the 455 and it was in such crazy good shape that I couldn't pass on it. I have been very pleased with the 425 but more power and fuel economy sure can't hurt. I also wanted to get a newer 4x5 series while they were still available so all my brackets, loader, etc would just bolt on. I am going to wait until mowing season to make an actual rational decision on selling the aws 425.

I've never had any trouble with the loader + AWS as some say. I'd do it again for sure.

As others have said you certainly have a nice pair of tractors. I too say keep em both, if you can, and have the 425 AWS for mowing and the 455 for loader work.

it was a lot of fun to restore and it's a 64 http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=48625

I had a 1997 425 I bought new and it was a great tractor. I've always kicked myself in the butt for getting rid of it. The only problem I had with it was a mouse at off a wire on the starter solenoid and I had to replace it. It had 960 hours on it when I traded it in. slkpk

The previous owner had a body shop. He put 3 coat of clear on all of the green paint. Trust me, the pictures give it no justice.
