I have been looking at one that is complete, but the lift does not work and it has a busted tie-rod. I am told it runs. It does have the mower deck and some rust. I have seen pics and it looks like normal rust for it's age. What is a good price? I made an offer and the guy turned it down. Now today I get an e-mailfrom him and he knocked off another 100 and now we are 100 bucks apart. In the pics he has a chain holding the deck on becuase the electric lift is not working. I found that somewhat strange. Won't the deck still be held in place if the lift is not working?? What do you guys think??

Keep looking! There are over 26,000 John Deere items on e-pay,if you just type /search "John Deere"
One thing I found is not everyone who sells there knows how to list said item. If you only search for JD 112 changes are you would never find it.John

what is he asking for it, and what are you offering.. a tie tod is not a big deal, but if the acctuator is gone in the electric lift it could be price, but 99% of the time it is an electrical conection on the electric lift, there are two solinoids and alot of wires that could be loose, bad, or unplugged.

I had a 212 with an electric lift (completely different setup) but the electric motors are a couple of hundred bucks from John Deere (they still sell them). But the lift will be "stuck" in place where it is at with no way of raising or lowering it. I suspect the "chain" is there so he can lift and lower the deck manually and lock it in place with the chain! There are too many in better shape out there to go after the first one! Good luck with whatever you decide!

Id pick it up, take it in the garage, replace the tie rod, clean it up, and see whats wrong with electric lift, if you can fix it great.. if not get it the best you can and resell it to make a profit.

You could also part it out and easily triple the price you paid if everything else is in good condition!
