Default wheelhorse 520 h wont turn over

hi everyone i have a i believe to be a 1993 toro wheelhorse 520h. It ran yesterday and today when i went to start it nothing happened i was just wondering if anyone can tell me where to begin. I tried jumping it and that dint work. Then i tried to charge the battery,i was going to jump the solenoid but it looks a little diffrent then the ones im use too and i dont want to mess anything up.Is their something that usually goes wrong with these tractors that i should look for?

Check the fuses while you're at it. My 414 came with bad fuses, which caused it to start right up one moment and then be totally dead the next.

Check the oil level, it has a low oil sensor that won't let it start. Also, while sitting on the seat move the handle on the PTO while trying to start. Sometimes it's not totally disengaged and won't let the tractor start. Sounds like something minor, annoying as heck, but minor.

What were you doing with it when it was running? Snow removal? If so, its possible any combination of the above occurred. Snow gets into everything and 520's have exposed connections galore so its easy for something to get wet, corrode, etc. Just may be that the battery doesn't have enough to turn- hey, its probably 14 degrees by you too. Get yourself a multimeter if you don't have one. Test the battery, should have 12.5 volts at least, when running should see 13.2 to 14. Check your fuses. Two by the pto lever, one down by the starter. Let us know if you find anything.

Check the relays under the battery next to motor, there are 3 of them and the one closest to the belt had some greened up terminals on mine causing it not to start. Stick your hand in there a wiggle the wires around at relays then try.

When my neighbor's 520 did that, I pulled and cleaned the fuses under & to the right of the battery. They were slightly corroded and that fixed the problem. My 520 seems to destroy starter solenoids, probably because I hose off the dirt all the time. I put a new one on it about 2 years ago and it's starting to act up again. It clicks, but doesn't allow the voltage to pass thru the solenoid.

That's one of the downfalls about the WheelHorse you will come to find: that open hood design makes electronic parts & bare metal components problematic.
