First I want to thank all the folks who been posting on this site. Purchased a new house last year which would require a riding mower, but didn't have the time to tinker with an older mower/GT. I hate CL, but it's a good think all the steals go fast. Limited budget, I purchased a Sears DGS6500 48" Deck. Mower cut greats, cut high grass with no problem, purchased Gator blades, and sears mulch kit for plug (Sears outlet). Than I purchased (snuck) a Johnny Bucket & Plow. First part of the year, 2" snow, the tractor couldn't even run over a snow bump (LOL) from a tire track, NO TRACTION on my black top drive way. Well the Blizzard of Baltimore (Parkville, MD) we finally got some significant snow that I could try with my chains and wheel weights and of course my JB Snow Plow. Works like a champ. Ok pictures, hopefully Mike PS I plowed my neighbor in the back for his xmas party for tomorrow

Glad the DGS6500 and Johnny plow is working out so well for you. Welcome back for sure and check in when you can. Doesn't really matter how often.
I would say your a fine member, as far as I am concerned in regards to the number of posts - its the quality that matters most not the quantity.

Mike, Thanks for the pics, they're great snow scenes. Looks like your equipment is working out good for you. Have fun!

Hey nice pics. My sisters all live down in Harford County and got hammered. Too bad they don't have my equipment. I only got like 5 inches. Any chance you could get a close up shot of the plow setup? I always wanted to see it. Does it mount on the same frame as the bucket?

There’s a member over in the craftsman forum in PA who cleared 12”, same snow stormed in Baltimore (Parkville) that dumped 12-16” of snow, on his first pass with a new Sears GT with loaded AGs without chains.
Since this was my first time with a tractor and plow, my plan of attack was to keep ahead of the storm. I wasn’t about to try and clear 12” of snow. I cleared my drive way three times Saturday and than finished cleaning up on Sunday. Now with lots plow time under my belt, because I did several of my neighbors. I feel much more comfortable in letting the snow accumulate 6” before heading out to plow now. Here’s a picture of my neighbor driveway I plowed up hill on Sunday after the 12”-16” snow and my drive way Sunday morning before my final clean-up. Unfortunately you could see the tire chains were spinning up hill on my neighbors steep drive way. Easy going down hill but a pain going up hill the first time. |

And since my wife refuses to drive my tractor,
she got stuck with the next best thing. This thing can really throw some snow. I didn’t want my snow blower to get jealous since I didn’t post any pictures, unfortunately I don’t have any in action
