Default New guy here.

Hello everyone, I just purchased my first 446 garden tractor and was browsing here for some info and decided to join. The tractor is a 1974 model with a three point hitch that I plan to plow and harrow my small garden with. I will either make or buy a sleeve hitch adapter for the three point to accomodate my implements. Looks like there is a lot of good info here, Thanks.

If all of your attachments are for a sleeve hitch, you could sell the 3 point and buy yourself a sleeve hitch. You would end up about 250.00 to the good, but wouldnt have the "cool factor" of the 3 point.

Welcom to the group, lots of knowledgable folks here.

The archive/search function is a gold mine of info.

And while I am not experienced there are some on this forum that really know their stuff and will take time to share.

Only caution is these Case tractors multiply.

...last winter I bought my first garden tractor a Case 220 ..older one in Desert Sand color. Selected Case and went searching for mine after first finding the tractor forum and reading various brands. And I wanted something easy to work on and did not want a clutch.

These Case garden tractors are a lot of fun...the only thing is its easy to like them so much you keep finding them and can't say no.

Early in the spring I found an Ingersoll 4020 that the PO repowered (has a Honda 24 HP in it) ....was maybe 5 miles away and when I saw it I had to have it. Then a derelict non running 220 that I put a 14HP Kohler K321 in. Then along came a non running 644. Its addictive.

Have some fun and welcome.

Yes, the 3 point hitch with hydraulic power is too cool to part with. The buddy that I bought the tractor from has a couple of adapters that I can pattern from if I build one. The first thing that will need fixing is the clutch that powers the deck, it doesnt spin the pulley when I try to engage the blades. Is this an easy fix and where can I get the part(s)? Thanks.

There are two types of clutches, the easy adjust and the one that uses spacers. I believe there are manuals on the clutches on the yahoo site. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/casegardentractors/ You will have to join, then look in the files section. There may be on on the site but i dont know without looking.

Welcome to the forum dusty! Your tools won't have any for long now that you have an older tractor to work on! They're great tractors but you will have to turn the wrench a few times! Just can't stop the old ones though!

The EZ-adjust and the Shim style clutch are basically the same except for the adjustment procedure. The very first post here will direct you to the clutch manual. If you are lucky it just needs adjustment. The best thing to do is take it off and apart to inspect the bearings and shaft...
