From the model number it is an 860 i think, it seems to be the 12hp version of my 960 with is the 16 hp with the 4 speed

if you look at my images in the gallery you will see the pics of my 960... my avatar is my 990 with the snowblower attached

I hope this helps
Doug

Here's another one - tough to tell from the pictures, but is this an 800 series tractor? Looks like a 2-stage blower.

Enjoy that "bullet proof" tractor. I have a (1969) 149-860 that I bought from a friend in 1976....sounds very similar to yours. Mowed 3 large lawns for years and use it with a snow-thrower in upstate NY. The clutch (enclosed) is different than most that I have seen with the exposed disc, including the 1968 and 1971 units that I hope to reincarnate. With a little love these can last almost forever. Use it in good health.

You can get your manual here:

http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/Public.do

For the model number just enter "149-860"
For the serial number just enter "1" or whatever.

I have a 760, which is the same tractor as an 860 only with a 10hp Briggs.
There is allot of info here on the 760-960 MTDs.
My 1971 760 and here.

"Bullet Proof", when in quotes, roughly translates to tough as **** but don't shoot it.
