Hi guys,
Thanks for starting this thread.
I was doing due diligence on a “too good to be true” ad for a tractor on craigslist in Florida. Does this look like your Chicago fraudster? http://lakeland.craigslist.org/bfs/1488030535.html
Looks like he is working his way south for the winter. I found your thread on the “MyTractorForum” linked on Google and got my doubts about the ad confirmed.
I was almost sure it was a fraud but, this is Florida… I can show you nice houses that sold recently for 75% off what they sold for 3 years ago. Boats, cars, trucks and airplanes too. So, this is a good time to buy a house or a boat or car or truck etc. in Florida, if you need one and it wasn’t a stretch to think that someone was dumping their tractor for whatever they could get.
In case they kill the ad it’s for:
John Deere 2305 Compact Utility Tractor 4WD Hydro, 24HP Diesel (113hrs) - $4200 (Lakeland)
I emailed the reply to on the craigslist ad and got this…

Hi I'm Noel,
The "John Deere 2305 compact tractor " (24 HP) is still for sale and has only 113 hrs, also the attachements are included in the price. It is in a perfect shape, no scratches, dents and was never involved in an accident or something like that. I am forced to sell it quickly because I need money to pay the mortage on my house.
My final price is $4.200. I already have tons of emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying this tractor, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of your serious intentions.

Hi again,
The john deere tractor is already at a shipping company. I took it there to be able to deliver it to a potential buyer while I'm out of town, working on a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico. My brother in law works at this small shipping company, and he promised me that it will cost me or you nothing to deliver it on the US teritorry. The tractor is listed on eBay and that lets me use their secured system. I'm very busy with my job and I'm sorry I can't meet you in person. According to eBay you will have 5 days from the time you received the tractor to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
So if you really want it I will give you the directions/link to the auction on the eBay motors (it is listed as a "buy it now" at a fixed price) because this is the only way I'm going to sell this tractor
Emailed again and got this: (Note that it’s not a real ebay motors site but…)

Not a very good spoof but, I wonder how many people sent in their $2,100.00 deposit.
