Default Does Honda Still make Riding Mowers?

I'm interested in getting a Riding mower, I'm getting too old to be pushing lawn mowers anymore. I've been trying to look at every brand to make an informed desicion on what Lawnmower to purchase, but as far as I can tell, Honda no longer is in the Riding Mower market. What year did they stop producing riding mowers and why?

Nevermind, I found my answer in the General Lawn and Tractors forum. They are only available outside the United States now. And it doesn't look like they ever made riding mowers, just re-labeled John Deere's.

Yes they did make riding mowers - and very good ones at that. This is what this forum is mostly about.

Not having any details, I can tell you that they stopped selling riding mowers in the USA sometime after I bought my H4514H in 1992 - probably because of their high prices. It is unfortunate that the market for riding mowers went to the lower priced ones when price overrode quality.

Don't get me wrong, there are other good riding mowers out there but Honda did make an excellent one but it came with a high price.

Those of us who have Hondas will keep them going as long as parts are available and not too excessively priced.

Yeah, Honda definately made real nice tractors. I always wanted one but could not justify the high prices for used Honda's (new ones are no longer available in the U.S.) or the fact that parts availabilty is sketchy.

I've seen Honda lawn tractors that were 10 years old or more posted in the $ 4K -$5K range. That was for the tractor and the mower deck only, no other attachments included. Used (10 years +) Honda Garden Tractors are typically in the $7K - $8K range and may or may not include a bucket attachment, etc...

I have a Honda 624ws snowblower and that is one awesome piece of OPE. The 6 HP engine is absolutely amazing in its ability to throw (far and wide) all types of snow. I've had this for 10 years and absolutely love it. I think if I had ever had a Honda Tractor I would feel the same way.

It really is too bad that the general public chose price over quality and forced a great product out of the market place. They really don't make them like they used to.

For a short Time in the 1990's Deere made some lawn tractor for honda based on the LX100 series tractor. But Honda did produce there own tractor's in the 1980's and they always made the own GT's But here a link to the one made in the UK http://ww1.honda.co.uk/power/garden/ and if you look at the one made in the UK they look like they might be made by Simplicity for Honda if you look at the Hoods

You're right, Sergeant - they do look an awful lot like a Simplicity hood. The way companies are so intertwined these days you never know who's who anymore. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not???

I think they stopped making them in '98 or '99. I have a Harmony 2013 (whose steering I have to repair soon) that I bought new in '98 for about $2000.

I had bought a used tractor earlier that summer for $300; and the thing died in a month. So I went to Home Depot, and I said to the salesman that I wanted to buy a tractor that was going to last me 20 years if I took care of it. He told me to go down the street to the Honda/Deere dealership and buy one of those.

Engine still runs like the day I got it; only problems I've ever had is a tire went flat and the current steering problem (which manifested itself during the last mow of the season, so I haven't checked it out yet).

This is interesting. This Honda is described as a 2002 made by John Deere.

Honda hasn't sold their own manufactured tractors in North America since the late 1990's. Neither has Yamaha. Both were excellent quality machines, but came with high prices, and now both are almost orphans as parts are hard to find and expensive to buy.
