I have a Kohler Command CV 12.5S (mfg 1996) that is blowing fuel from the muffler, and the oil dipstick smells like gas. The oil level has not risen. Before I place the order for a new pump, should I add an oil filter to the order, or can I just dump and replace the oil?

I'd spend the few extra dollars and replace the oil filter. Might save yourself a some headaches down the road.
