If you look at Justin's great thread, there are photos of the diff lock assembly and it'll give you a better understanding of why you're being told not to step on that left side pedal with the tractor moving. You stop the tractor fully, step down fully on that left pedal and hold it down, and then step on either the forward or the reverse pedals to resume moving. It locks both rear axles together for maximum traction. I don't believe it can be left engaged during runs, unless you were on really slippery surfaces, like ice and snow. Otherwise, the twisting that would occur from one tire trying to spin faster than the other tire, would grenade the trans. Think in terms of "Locking Differential" on a 4 wheel drive or ALL Wheel Drive vehicle.

Where is this thread? I can't find it.

The peice you are missing is number 21 on this ipl http://www.cubcadetsuperstore.com/pa...0-A/0052600022
The switch mounts flush to the dash and is held in place by some plastic fingers that are made onto the sides of the switch so it should snap into place. I would not snap it in until you have part 21 installed cause its near impossible to turn on without the handle once its pushed into place. Don't throw away that peice of metal it looks familar, it has been a long time since I was into one of those and don't quite remember where it goes for sure. I think inside the dash though.

In case you don't have one here is a service manual for your machine. http://service.mtdproducts.com/Train.../770-10227.htm

Congrats on the 3235. Awesome machines with some minor flaws all in all. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. My 3k Series is now a daily driver, putting about 15 hours of mowing in a week currently, and I can personally attest to their capability.

I just ordered 120$ in parts. Including the stickers for fenders and running boards. The other day on Parts tree,,them stickers showed not available,,but today they were there.

I still need the headlight lens,,,parts tree wants $88,,,for the whole headlight assembly,,,all I need is the lens. I don't see where to get just that.

And I also need 2 new casters for the 60" deck. Not available on parts tree.

Im in need of 2 back tires also.

Whats this tractor worth when I'm done??

I have $400 into a rebuilt engine.

$120 into stickers and some brackets for deck and PTO switch.
still need new casters for deck,,and headlight lens.
2 new back tires
brand new gator blades.
New paint job,,all around.
This tractor has the hydraulic kit for attachments also,,already installed.
I'm putting a new seat on it too.

Probably have $1000 into before I'm done. Any clue what it's worth? I might sell it for a profit ,,if it's there. If not I'm going to keep it and sell my GT6000.

Next on the list is a 2160 that has been waiting to be worked on.

The same part is better known by its Toro description. It's:

6.25" X 3" Toro 63-8400 Deck Wheel with 3/4" ID Bore (Rib Tread)

I found them for $64 for the pair on here on ebay

Hope this helps!

I bought a quart of each color for Cub Cadet. Yellow and they call it white.

Getting this ready for paint now. Going to paint as much as the frame as I can. Amazing how many rust spots you can find when you start peeling paint off.

Found out this is a 2000 thru 2003 model.

The deck is going to get a paint job too ,,I ordered a new bracket for it and casters,,,all will be here by the end of the week.

Been searching the web for tires for this. 24x10.5x12.

They are a odd ball size. Can find some 24x12x12 that are reasonably priced. I don't think they will fit. ????

I did find(one place) the exact match for size,,,,and for the price of one 24x10.5x12 ,, I can get 2 tires 24x12x12.
I need 2 tires.

3000 series can get $2000+ on the used market depending on condition...but I'd keep it if I were you (since I kept mine I can say that). I am not an expert on tires but I put some 12x12's on mine and they fit. I know tire molds are not an exact science but the ones I have do fit. I rec getting some with a good tread just in case you ever want to use it as a plow or get a bucket for it.

With all the hydraulics on your tractor it should fetch more than the everage 3225 with one handle where you have three. Those extra two probably set someone back close to a grand each. You should have no trouble doubling your money.

Thanks for the input.

I dropped the fender and several other parts off to get sandblasted. Got a call today that they were done,,,,but it didn't work out well. Guy told me he couldn't sand blast the paint off.
Said it came off easy where it was rusted but everywhere else it would just burn like touching a torch to it. It's not powder coat either,,,what kind of paint is this??? lol

Said it like it has a plastic coating,, or at least,,, very odd.
So I still had to pay him for what he did,,,but I have a mess now,,,cannot be painted this way.

I'm going to get some paint stripper tomorrow and give it a try.

I hate to think I have to grind all of this area.

UPS has many of my parts in route now. I need to get some paint work done,,,I'm off schedule because of this.
