Questions about my new craftsman tractor
Hi all I just purchased a late 80's craftsman II model number 917254623 and it has a 12hp Tecumseh on it. My first question is does anyone know what model Tecumseh this is, I can't read tecumsehs only Briggs. My next question is what all would I have to order to add pull start to my
Engine. I'm using this tractor as an offroading and want a backup if my battery dies. Thanks

Pull of the flywheel screen. There should be a little "cup" thing with the flywheel nut in it. Most of the time, you can wrap a rope around there without modifying anything. That goes for all Tecumseh lawn mower engines (the small ones) but I don't know for sure about a larger one like you have on your tractor.

The engine should have a 143.xxxxxx number stamped on it.
Post that and it may be on one of the crossover charts.

143406152 is the engine model number
