REAL HI-DEF AT LAST!
![]() Some time ago I was on here whining about my CRT and LCD TV squishing the picture and not really being all that "revolutionary"... Well, that's over now! I hooked up 2 Samsung 42" (diagonal ) TV's on 2 brand new hi-def DVR's this weekend. Wifey's TV is in the living room and mine in the den.Now I get it! I could see one frayed strand of cable on a choker watching "Ax Men"... I watched Jeremy Wade mess around with killer fish and I could see how sharp those teeth were and count the scales! Even a non hi-def movie ("Hometown Hero") was spectacular. AND, the set's sound is far and away superior to my old 27" RCA CRT and the livingroom Crosley LCD (free) 25"... I never even had to adjust anything, just hooked it up HDMI, programmed the cable remote for "On/Off/Volume" and away we went. Thanks to all that explained stuff and helped me figger out why my old TV picture was squished and didn't fill the screen. It's Wow now! ![]() (I'll probably be over on the "Health Forum" soon moaning about getting old and fat in my recliner as the grass grows too long...)

Welcome to HDTV. Now you just have to find a way to stay awake past 9PM in that recliner.

Um.... so what's a "Dugger's kids", are they on the science or history channels? If not they probably are a figment of someone's imagination to keep commercials properly spaced out.

Programming about "children"? That's what the "channel blocker" is for on the cable box!
![]() One other thing I noticed with these TV's, I can hear them better. We used to have the sound up much higher so much that you could hear the TV in the other room during a commercial speed-through. I thought it was just my strange hearing but Wifey noticed it as well with her TV. Can't wait for the new crab season!!!

Are you all settled into your Barcalounger HH ? The new crab fishing season starts at 2100 hours EST !!
Make sure you cover the kitty cats eyes. Those life sized red crabs just might scare the bejesus out of them !!

I nearly went over the arm of the chair on one of those big waves! Only hanging onto a bag of Cheetos saved my life!
![]() For any other geezers (or geezer-ettes) out there that might be buying their first HiDef TV... I think it might be a good idea to cover the screen with 6mil vapor barrier for the first couple of hours so's not to go into the shock I went into the other night. Sorta ease into it a ¼ of the screen at a time and peel the plastic off kinda slow like! ![]()

You can skip the 3D TV. The next iteration of HD will bring the actors right into your living room, via holograms.

Just remember, sitting too close to the set can make you go blind!
