Default Recoating Question?

I stripped and applied DTM Epoxy Primer w. Hardener to a few pieces of a project and was wondering can I prime all the pieces now and wait until spring to spray topcoat on them.

What would be the best way to prepare the epoxy for the top coat if I wait until spring?

Thanks
Nick

I would venture to say that you would probably have to wet sand the primer when you set about to color coat the parts. It wouldn't harm the primer, i'd say, because you wouldn't just paint the primer without sanding it. Adhesion is why we do sand anything prior to painting it.

I typically shoot a sealer over top of something like that if its going to be a while before it gets color. Most primer is somewhat absorbant and will suck up water causing adhesion problems down the road. A lot of that stuff acts like a sponge so I always encourage people to finish the job as soon as possible. A sealer is pretty cheap and all you'all need to do in the Spring is scuff and shoot.
