How many of you have seen one of these? This unit was sold at an auction last Saturday along with about 60 other Simplicity's & AC's. A long time dealer was calling it quits. This was a 1997 75th anniversary model, one of only 800 built and sold to dealers as advertising. They indicated that at the time, they were not to be sold to the public. This one was advertised as never having the tires on the ground as it was kept in the original shipping crate. This was a very nice piece & sold for $7800.00. Skip |

I saw pictures of that machine at my local dealer way back when, out of business for years now, and always thought it was kind of cool. Love the headlights and exhaus system!

The anniversary machines are around, and even within the 800, there are slight variations. I have to say, I'm amazed at the price...that's big money. Seems to me the remaining new ones at dealers were going for $5K+
Here's a lightly used one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-Simplic...item3cc05627d7

They had all of these tractors together in Port Washington and the were all driven through the town for the 75th anneversary celebration of Simplicity. Can you imagine 800 of these running lined up driving through the streets. I have a VHS tape of the parade when we did this.

There have been several used ones around for sale. Trying to get $4000 and haven't seem to sell. Not sure if they have the Triad or not. don't have the extra money right now.

I also know people who bought the NFL Regents when we made them and Alot of them had the hoods signed by the Packers and a friend of mine still has the one he bought in the factory crate. Never opened it and I don't think he could get back what he paid for it now even though it is new.

The "Triad" ouch, guess they should stay in the crate. The triad looks nice but just doesn't have the life expectant you would think. I've heard of these motors going up in smoke with less than 200 hours.

Many of the Triad's were replaced with Command's under warranty, I do believe. Some had power steering, which added to the value.

Don't like the paint scheme but love the eyebrow headlights. Is it possible to get those, or at least the eyebrow to attach to the standard lights?

thanks for the plug on my 75th in above link
I have seen some sell for less some for more. Personally 3,000 is a great deal without pwr steering. Pwr steering adds a good $1000 IMHO.WOW That is a crazy price at $7800. But thats about what something new comparable today would cost. I have sold several 95-2000 orange soveriegns for $1700 to $2600 but none had pwr steering. Most buyers will not pay more for the pwr steering so I keep them for myself or remove it. The lights are straight form harley so yes you can get them. In fact I will be ugrading mine to HID soon. I'll be blunt the triad is junk compared to the command IMHO. But you can swap with a regular orange sovy and come out ahead.

I guess it is not as unusual as I thought! I had never seen one though. I agree the price was out there. There were really only two serious bidders, however. A lot of guys turned and walked away when it went over two grand. Of course it was over my head at one grand. The auction was in Greensburg Pa. (western Pa) I did pick up an AC HB112 that needs a good bit of work.

Would love to see some pictures from this auction! I too have a 75th anny tractor. Its very rough and is going to get repowered with a good used command 18. I never cared for the goofy stripes. Its hard to get the "special" parts for these. I can't find the right gray seat anywhere. Might have to settle for a black one instead. I remember seeing these in the dealers when they were still new.

There were several videos on YouTube showing local TV coverage of the parade in Port Washington but they are now gone. I watched them less than a year ago. They also had the football regents and some famous football players driving the tractors.
