Howdy,
I have a Gilson I got a long time ago, I have a long story associated but I will just cut to the chase. old twin blade 32" deck was long gone rotted. Got this 42" deck on a whim and it mounted perfectly. Modded the main pulley and that was it. For the most part everything has been perfect for years but I never got the lift mechanism figured out and it has been bugging me. The model no on the chassis of the tractor says 52081A 47837. First picture shows some of the tractor/mower but circled in red is the lever that used to lift the old 36" deck. Push button and pull push. ![]() Second image shows the top of the deck and bottom of tractor. Circled in RED are two pegs that swing up and down with the lever, one has a peg and one has a hole. This is where the old deck was chained to in order to lift. Circled in Yellow are two pegs at the rear of the deck that will correspond to the 3rd image. I got with the deck a part that has two chains and if I recall the chains were connected to the deck at these pegs. ![]() Last image shows the part that came with the deck and the two chains that were connected to the back of the deck. ![]() I have no idea how I can make this work. I would really like to be able to lift the deck off the ground when I have an attachment on the tractor and I am not mowing so I don't wear out the deck wheels. If anyone has any pictures or explanations on how I can make this work you would make my day! Thank you in advance. |

Did you get this figured out?
In your 3rd pic, that shaft is identical to the one on my Gilson/Ford LGT14H. The two chains attach to the rear of the deck at the points you circled in yellow. The slotted plate has a link that goes to the rock shaft and then onto the lift cylinder. I can't tell if your deck is identical to my 42 inch deck (too many leaves). Also the LGT14H I have has a front lift point too. The rock shaft has a pin that attaches to a chain that is on the front of the deck.

Sorry about the long delay in responding. just in front of the rear wheel you can see the chain hanging down from the part that you have. That part rotates on some holes that are part of the rear brace for the foot rests. That elongated hole in that part connects to a link that goes to the lift cylinder.
My Gilson/Ford is a 1988 version with hydraulics and a 42 inch deck.

Here's a good picture of that foot rest bracket without the foot rest and without the mower lift shaft installed. You'll see the bracket pointing down just in front of the fender.
