Embedded Links

Since when did we start getting links by vigilink embedded in our posts immediately upon posting, and why are logged in members seeing them?

I ran into this type of link on another site and had to shut down my computer to get control back. Needless to say, I will not click on that type of link again!

This is not a good way to encourage new potential members and a sure way to tick off the old ones.

I think they have been doing it awhile. You can try this http://www.viglink.com/support/optout or switch to version 1.0. .

Hmmmmmmm..... Mods, can you give us a bit more information about exactly what this means? Tudor, are you saying that the advertisers are embedding click-through advertising within, say, a post I make as a paid member?

LTG, I don't really have any information to offer, perhaps when Phil ( site manager ) will see this when he logs in.

Someone else brought this up recently in a thread somewhere but not sure what the results were other than offering the opt out link above. It does not appear often. I've seen it maybe once or twice before but that was quite a few months ago. Nothing since, but then again I only use version 1.0 along with FireFox as a browser which is more user friendly in my opinion.

I will get this fixed, the general user group was added in error. This should only be visible to guest traffic.

If this persists can anyone get me a screen cap of this so I can forward it to the techs. There where changes made to the viglink program for guest traffic and it somehow populated other usergroups. Its been reported and should be fixed now.

I fully realize the necessity of advertising, but too much is not good. I no longer have cable, or even a working tv, because the ads took more time than some shows.

I'm set up on 2.0. Should I change to 1.0? Should everyone do this?

I would say no... Don't panic, let the server administrator work on this issue and all should be good...
