Default John Deere 425 Fuel Pump.

I picked up a 425 yesterday. Was advertised as not running. Got it home removed the front blade, then decided to "Play" with it. I am able to get it running for about 3 seconds by shooting starting fluid down the carb. I pulled the fuel filter and no gas being delivered out the fuel line.

My Question is, with the key "ON" should the fuel pump delivery gas out the line?? I can siphon gas out of the line with no problem. I dont want to remove the cab to get to the fuel pump. (With the key On, I cant hear the pump run)
So , is there an auxillary fuel pump I can mount closer to the cab to get gas to the carb..

Thanks..

There is an electric fuel pump in the fuel tank. I would be sure that there is power to it. There are two 15A fuses on the COntrol Module (Circuit Board) that you should check.

Thanks GotDeeres,, Yeah those two fues on the circuit board was the first thing I checked. I just hate the thought of removing that cab to get under the fender pan.. I just bought a universal Inline low pressure fuel pump off eBay.. I'll have to see how this inline pump works..

The fuel pump in the tank also has a sock type of filter. Hopefully this is not plugged. The pump should be heard running when you turn the key on. An aux. pump may work as long as it can suck the gas through the other pump.

Removing the cab would be a real PITA.
