Default Ancient Craftsman 36 RER with factory Duals! Came home with me today.

I couldn't stand it, I got it for $5! Engine is free.

It's just too neat. Twin blade deck is in good shape I think. More tomorrow. Just got back. Check out my Fraser roto tiller in another thread..its too neat too.

Yeah, the Bolens was between the Craftsman and the Fraser Rototiller I got.

The Bolens went for $30! I lent the guy a battery and he jumped it. Got it running and drove it on the trailer! Of course it smoked like it was on fire, but for $30 he's still ok.
I have had 2 tube frame Bolens and lost money on both. So I let it go. Best deal there was a Cub 70 running for $60. I didn't think it was actually selling so I didn't bother bidding. The Cub guy had 4 there, 2 with rear PTO's and one with a snowblower. They weren't meeting his reserve including the one I won, so I didn't think the 70 had really sold. The auctioneer asked the owner if it was a go on the $60 and the guy said "yeah, sell it!"
Well, sheesh..If I knew it was really selling I would have bid. Reserves and auctions don't mix.
There were about 250 riding mowers and tractors there like every year.
2 rings going at all times.

Is it as wide as it looks? If it is and that low center of gravity it should nice
and stable on hillsides. It's the first one I've ever seen.

I guess it isn't that ancient after all. The older steering wheel style and oilbath aircleaner made me think about 1960-65 ish, but the Briggs code is 6903031 which would be 1969.

Model 147402 which would be 14cu in. Don't know the HP from that exactly but about 6hp I think.

Front tires are 4" rears are 6" so thats ok. I was afraid the backs might be 7" which are unobtainable now.

It will get a sandblasting & cosmetic restoration. I would like to find some other photos to see what the real seat looked like if it wasn't a pan seat. Probably a square one.

I guess the deck is about 36" so the width of the back track is about 40" more or less. I'm going to have to look hard for some room for a battery and add electric start if possible. Not a big fan of pull start engines. You would think with that big a hood there would be room.

The rear grill looks like the front end of a '69 Charger
