You have the same Murray mower as me, I think. My model number is 201401B and my Tecumseh engine is an OHV16. Do you have issues with your Walbro LMK carb surging? I'm thinking it may have to do with the fuel line. Watching the fuel come out of the gas tank, it dribbles into the fuel filter. I looked inside the gas tank (not original) and it seems to have a very small drain hole. Maybe .5 inch?

Default Murray 52431x92 FINISHED!! The Green Machine

    Howdy Mr. Hankll,
I just bought an identical tractor.
I am a proud new owner of a 98 Murray 20 HP Twin Cyl IC, 52" Garden Tractor, model 52431x92 (model 460777 is also written under the hood) Type 2277E1, Code 9804135B. It appears to have a mulcher??? I am not sure. It has a long back plate that indicates it could have multiple attachments, including a tiller. The engine has been recently overhauled and runs very well.

What I am needing immediate help with is raising the deck to 3 to 4 inches. Am having issues with cutting height; it cuts too low for my field even set on 6. I have adjusted all the way to the right and then all the way to the left in those 5 grooves. With the lever set on 6 it is still not high enough for the first cutting of the field. Would love to find a manual.

I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hey Hank and thanks for stopping in at "To Hone or Not to Hone" the other day. I watch for tractors for sale in my area and pick up one now and again to putz with and fix up. I'll strip the deck down, remove any rust, and check all the joints, belts, wiring, etc., until it's up to snuff. I will replace gaskets and seals, set the RPM's, de-carbon the head and valves and check the cylinder for wear.

These B&S 289707 engines must have been fairly well made as the condition you saw in the pics is what I've seen thus far in the 4 I've came across...and they are all around 15 years old.

I appreciate your input as I plan to continue working on small engines as a hobby and way to feed my bowling addiction and have a little extra walking around money...LOL
