The kind on your computer screen, that is. Here's mine after I "cleaned up" and changed my folder icons. I've had that background or wallpaper stowed away for awhile, and decided to use it again. I've also attached another wallpaper I've been using lately. It's not a real clear picture, but it has a nice "misty" effect to it.

Note that my screenshot was 2.1 MB. I downsized and compressed it to about 28KB. For the full sized TIFF go here. (http://homepage.mac.com/userosx/FileSharing26.html) You'll also find that and the other pic compressed to more resonably sized jpeg. The attached screenshot at the bottom was originally over 5 MB!

There will be instructions or a "sticky" expaining the various ways to resize your pics on this site, soon. Resizing not only enables you to meet size requirements to attach a photo to your post, it also makes it easier for someone on dial-up to access your image if you choose to host it.

My wallpaper most recently has been this picture. I don't know why, but I find it restful to look at.

Jim,
You and I and everybody else already paid for those pics with our tax dollars so go use them. You can look at a WHOLE bunch more at:

This is my typical desktop on every computer I use. Same blue background, same clutter of icons and folders all over the place. I don't like fancy backgrounds and screen savers irritate the crap out of me. I leave my screens up 24/7 on all the computers I run. And they all look this plain.

And the Marine site is temporarily not available for some reason.

I don't know who made this picture, but I like the depth and the great old twin Beech. Those clowns are good for a chuckle too. It must be a good desktop for me... I've had it quite a while. I won't show all the messy icons, though.

Here's mine. I keep the Dock hidden on the left side of the screen, and the song info in the lower left is from Synergy, an iTunes controller that shows song info every time a song is played.

Hey Dean, (Sounds weird to say that) :fing20:

What is the name of the pc card that you use? and you must have quite a subscription bill!

Here's a picture of my desktop. I run dual 19" monitors in what nVidia calls "DualView" mode. (That's different from the horizontal "Span" mode.) I have the taskbar locked to the top of the right monitor & set to autohide.

Hey Dean, (you're right, it DOES sound weird),

I'm not sure what you mean by PC card, or the subscription bill part.

You said that you had a PCI card that you listened to XM on your PC!
Do you stream it, or is it acquiring the data like our units do?

As to my comment as to the subscription bill/cost !! It's simply that you said you had one in each vehicle /boombox/barn/ and computer!

Dean we have a reputation for being a quick study, if you missed a class or two I would be most happy to send you my notes!!!! :trink39:

Leave me alone, I was having a very un-Dean day! :bonk:

And besides, shouldn't this have been in the "XM Radio" thread? :aetsch:

The XM PCR plugs into a USB port on your computer and plays the sound through your computer's speakers. You control the XM through a program where you can search for artists that are currently playing, add favorite songs to a list, and the Mac version will look up songs in the iTunes Music Store.

We have the Family Plan, so the bill isn't that high, though XM did just raise their rates. We have two SkyFI units which we can switch in and out of the boombox. We got one of the new SkyFi units this year that allows you to pause and rewind songs, kinda like TiVo. It's great if you get a call and don't want to miss a song.

This phenomena, known as "Sun Dogs" happens when it is REALLY cold! This particular morning it was -23 Farenheight!

Unfortunately it happens more often than I would like in this part of the country. There were actually 4 "Sun Dogs" this particuar morning (2 on each side of the sun.) Normally there is only 1 set.

Makes for a good desktop picture with warmer weather here now!
