View Full Version : LB 1914 Starting Slow or Not at All

The other day I went to start the tractor and it turned over very slowly. I parked it in the barn and when I went to start it again nothing happened. I charged the battery and had it tested. Everything checked out ok. After re-installing it I was able to get the tractor to turn over very slowly and then not at all.
I'm curious if anyone else has had issues with the starter. The tractor only has around 175 hours on it. I've removed the starter and am going to see if I can get it tested today.
One thing I did notice is if I turned the key to the right and held it a black wire going from the front of the tractor and headed into the dash was getting very hot and melting the insulation around it.
Any help is appreciated.

Someone who knows more about these should be along to help soon.....

Welcome aboard mdungelman
Looks like you've got the battery covered which is what I'd have suspected first also.
With that out of the way I'd suspect you either got a loose/corroded ground and/or a loose/corroded battery lead connector at the starter solenoid. They can look good at 1st glance but they can form a thin layer of insulation just by sitting.
Take both off, clean then reconnect and properly tighten.
If you've verified that ALL electrical connections associated with the starter circuit are good, tight and corrosion free, you may have to remove the starter, secure in a large vise and bench test it with a battery and/or high output battery charger. A good starter will try to spin itself out of the vise when energised.
Let us know.

Well thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the replies.
To sum it up:
The positive battery terminal was originally pretty well corroded. I cleaned it up, and following pulling the insulation back, found some corrosion on the cable itself. I picked up a new power cable just to get that out of the way. Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. The starter was checked this morning and checked out perfect.
After work today I took a grinder to the 2 grounding points on either side of the battery and re-attached the wires. Turned the key and voila! She starts up like a charm.
So, if your Kioti LB 1914 is starting slowly or not at all, check the grounds!

Hello, I have a Kioti, LB1914 that sets in the shed, lots more than it is used. I went too crank it a few days ago, and it did the exact same think, Nothing?
I was wanting to put some food plots in , before the rain came! So, I have another, small tractor and got it fired up had to put the plow off the LB 1914, on this Kubota 7300 and got the job, done just in time, rained that night all night.
So I do appreciate this advise,on the LB 1914, I will be checking my Battery Cables first thing, on Monday!! Sure hope that is all it takes to get my little tractor going.
I will have to say this about that littel 4x4, for it's size it's a Strong Little Tractor. I have just bought my LB 1914 at a sale and the Hood Panels, were missing? Both Sides are Gone, bought it as is, so I am in need of these Hood, Side Pannels, if anyone has any or knows where I can find any Please Let Me Know !!
I will be Posting for them on here untill some will show up!
Thanks
