Need a little help guys.

Got a Honda 3811 give to me. Its one of those 12 horse rear engine jobs.

I think the brushes in the starter are stuck, but I have to get the flywheel off to get access to it. There is one nut in the center that holds the flywheel on. After it is removed, the flywheel does not want to come off. There is no place to get on it with a gear puller like on a Briggs. :banghead3

Anyone ever tackle one of these? Its an aluminum flywheel so I can't get too rough with it. Is there a key way or something that might be rusted in place?

Thanks in advance.

Aluminum flywheel, sound like a job for a torch, Heat the flywheel up, it will expand more than the iron/steel crank and it then should come off easily.

i wouldnt do the heat thing because of the crank seal right below the flywheel. do you have any repair shops in the area? i would check with one and see if you could borrow or even rent the correct puller. no broken parts that way as honda parts are pricey. bernie.

Doesn't take that much heat and if you apply the heat away from the crank the seal should't get too hot. You wouldn't want to apply the heat to the crank anyway. Gotta use a little commom sense when doing things like this. There are time when I forget this and soon crying OOPPSS!
