Hi
My friend has a new computer running XP. He is running IE. When he sends an email he gets a copy sent to himself also. I tried to fing a setting to fix this but can't find anything.

Hi
It looks just like mine and I am running outlook Express. Not web based. I will have to recheck when I go over there. Does outlook express have a setting for that? :banghead3

It might be a mail setting or a rule of some kind. Generally you can select something like "save copy to sent folder". I'm not sure, but I wonder if your sent folder does not exists, I wonder if it would drop it in your inbox instead.

I also believe he has some kind of rule set up that sends his sent mail to his inbox. This needs to be unchecked or deleted.
Look for "Organize" in the Outlook toolbar. I'm not on an XP machine right now, but I think "organize" is an icon made up of little yellow squares. Open up Organize, then click on Rules Wizard. He might see a rule that says something like "Move sent messages from (Rodster's friend's name) to Inbox. Either delete that "rule" or uncheck the box next to it. HTH

Rod, Have your friend read this section of THIS FAQ (http://spider.georgetowncollege.edu/t3/wsr/csc120/outlook.htm#send%20email) & then check his 'Message Options' to make sure that the copy being saved to his machine isn't being sent to his 'Inbox' instead of his 'Sent Mail' folder.

Also have him check when he selects "New" and look at the message options. He could have the "delivery receipt" and/or "read receipt" checked.

I know on mine when i send somebody something it saves it in the sent folder. If thats what its doing all he has to do is go to his mail and at the top and click on tools and go to options. Then go to send and unchecked the box that says (save copy's of sent messages in the sent items folder. And it wont send it there anymore.

He has them going to his inbox and Going to the sent box . He is computer challanged and thinks I am a computer whiz. I tried to tell him that I don't know much and he knows just a little bit less than me. HA HA ROF
