My 8 year old boxer Duke has passed on. He was hit by a truck on 6/4/09. I am glad he did not suffer, but I never thought it would be so damn hard to bury a dog. I had the worst time getting him up out the road, and then having to put him in the ground. It has been so wierd here, my little girl is running around calling for Duke, and she does not understand yet what has happened. I had to tell her Duke went away to a special place. Marlee then said "Duke bye bye to special place". It was percious I teared up again and laughed at how innocent she really is. Man I miss my buddy! I forgot we shared the same birthday, and thats the only reason I got him when he is a pup, then there ya have it, I had my new best of friend. Rest in Peace Buddy.

Sorry to hear about your dog Duke, A lot of people don't understand the attachment that true animal lovers can have for their pets. They are just like a member of the family. A couple of years ago my one dogs passed on. He was a lab/ english pointer mix. 18 years old when mother nature finally took him due to old age. It was very tough burying him. It is odd that you had the same birthday, my dog passed away on my birthday. They always have a special place in your heart.

Sorry for your loss. I think it hurts so much to lose a pet because they give thier love to us unconditionally,no strings attached. Duke is in a better place-He'll be in your thoughts always-a True friend. -AL

i am sorry for your loss. my choc lab Hooch was killed almost 2 years ago and i still to this day catch myself getting adjusted in teh bed so that i don't kick him! he slept between my knees and feet from the time he was about 3 months old until his death at age 6. my daughter still has times where she sits and cries from missing him. it gets easier, but takes a while.

Oh My Marlee is so missing him, she woke this morning calling for Duke and Ernie, well Ernie came running, and no Duke. She asks me where is Dukie Daddy? I tell her he has gone bye bye to a special place, but she dont understand yet. All day all I hear is Dukie, Dukie! I can tell she is missing him.

I'm sorry for your loss Crafthorse. I had to put down my dog Sarah 5 years ago for medical reasons. She was a 12 year old Rotty, I never cried at my Dads funeral but I sure teared on Sarah.
