I have the L120 lawn tractor and would like to avoid the problems many have had with the K-46 HD hydro. No problem after 110 hours (knock on wood). I would like to pump out whatever is in the case and refill with a Amsoil synthetic. What would you recommend? Using a pump I'm sure I won't get all of the existing fluid out so is it OK to have them mix?
Thanks
Mark

Greetings Mark !
Amsoil ATH Transmission/hydraulic oil compared to conventional hydro fluid will significantly reduce wear and lower operating temperature by 20 to 50 deg. F. , It also offers 3 times longer service life.
Amsoil ATH does cost more than conventional fluids, $8 per quart retail, or $6 per quart wholesale, however with the benefits it offers you in longer hydro life, and longer drain intervals, it really is the low cost alternative to conventional hydro fluid.
Amsoil ATH is compatible with conventional hydro fluid, however you should remove as much of the old fluid as possible, reason being the conventional fluid contains impurities that cause the fluid to break down and lay down deposits, which limits the service life of the hydrostat, and the oil, Amsoil ATH is chemically engineered, and contains no impurities, as you increase the ammount of conventional hydro oil mixed with ATH you compromise the extended drain capabilities of Amsoil ATH
Amsoil ATH is not for everyone, only those who wish to greatly extend the life of their hydrostat.
